A Familiar View

Looking back through my creative writing books, I came across this piece which was one of my early pieces. I was at work when the inspiration came to me and wrote it all later that same day with the scene of the lake in my mind like a captured photograph.

There was a moment where I looked across the lake,

A view I’m familiar with on an April’s day,

To the right pools of diamonds glimmering on the water top,

On the other, the clouds were a light shaded grey.

But for a split second, something felt different,

I couldn’t quite say what sparked my eye,

Maybe the sense of panic in the room I was standing,

Was interfered by the gentleness of an incoming blue sky.
