The First Six Interviews

So that’s the first 6 interviews done. We started with the American Cambridge based Cody Roach, followed by Northern Irish Hannah Skinner, Hertfordshire’s Joseph Nutman, Australian novelist Danielle Corrie, Essex based Ivy Wilson, with Stockton based Liam Thompson “The Part Time Secret” to finish. I’ll be aiming to start the next set in the Spring time.

So here are a few reflections from the interviews.

  1. Just because someone is a writer, it doesn’t mean it’s a family thing. Not a single one of my 6 interviewees came from writing families, they just all one day started out the blue, after feeling the need to express themselves or share a story.
  2. You can find inspiration everywhere; whether that be personal experience, your environment, other peoples work, music, imagining yourself in a fictional situation the list goes on. There are multiple ways of sharing your creativity ; whether that be a traditionally published book, a self published book, printed magazines, online publications, instagram, spoken word or combined with another art such as drawing/graphics.
  3. If you have a passion, a talent or a story to tell, there is a way to share it. So in the words of John Cooper Clark to Liam Thompson (The Part Time Secret) ” Go for it!”.

You can read all 6 interviews here.

Thank you to all my interviewees for taking part. Look out for the next set of interviews in Spring Time!
