What Am I Up to? Update

So my regularity of posting onto my blog has been scarce over the last month and to be honest I haven’t planned much future stuff either. But that does not mean I haven’t been busy behind the scenes either.

So I did a competition on my blog last month and was a little disappointed by the response. I had only 1 entry that I felt fully fit the brief, of the ten that entered, while many either saved or liked the post on here or on instagram. The competition I created I feel was a bit of a flop. It was aimed at allowing poets to release their inner child and have fun. My aim was laughter over quality. That being said, this is not me saying the quality of the poetry I received wasn’t good, it’s purely a reflection of fitting a brief. Hitting a brief is so important when writing poetry, many magazines now ask for work on certain themes for that issue and if it doesn’t hit that brief, the dreaded rejection letter gets sent.

Here is some good news. So while I have once again received rejections, including one on Good Friday; I have recently been accepted for “The Nuthatch Magazine”, a relatively new but exciting online magazine: for their second themed issue called “Bricks and Mortar; What is Home?” So keep an eye out for that!

I am planning to start contacting people for the next set of interviews; as promised. I hope to start planning that this month with a start in May. I have this month’s 3 Poems by 3 Poets to write up for you all too.

The main reason for my absence is however, I realised I spent so much time here writing about my love of poetry, that I forgot to write my own. So once I got another poem drafted and completed, I felt my creative flow returned, so I’m taking advantage of that while it’s here. Plus I’M WRITING A BOOK.

Thank you to all those that read my blog.
