Apologies for the Absence

Hello, long time no update I know. In the past year there has been a great deal of changes to my life which has adjusted my priorities. Last May my husband and I found out we were expecting . Our daughter was born in February and it’s fair to say it’s been the most rewarding journey of my life. For those reading who are parents themselves, you will understand the responsibilities and dedication that comes with being a parent. The simple things in life you took for granted before your child came along become a luxury. Despite any sleepless nights, explosive nappies, colic crying or our sick covered clothes, I manage to smile and laugh everyday. And that’s because of her. My perspective of life has changed, nothing is no longer about my happiness. Any selfishness I may have possessed before hand has left.

So with that in mind, writing for a while took a back burner. I have only written the odd piece of poetry since her birth, and even then it’s been about her, nor have I tried to get any of my poetry published. Actually any writing I have done, has mainly been writing short stories for her and working on a children’s book I wrote while I was pregnant. Initially the short stories I was only writing to be for my daughter and of course husband’s ears only. And while that may still be the case, I am considering releasing them in the future. Right now my current plan is to edit my children’s book in the hope of self publishing it, first half of the next and potentially release a small pamphlet of my poetry written over the course of the last couple years. Of-course take these timings with a massive pinch of salt, but my intention is to get these out in the near future. Right now my priority is and always will be my daughter.
